ABOUT ME

All in all, I'm a pretty average, simple girl.   I believe in integrity, honesty, faithfulness, even when only you and God know what you do. I love old fashioned values, home and hearth, pumpkins, a warm fire, the fall and the mountains! I love living a simple life, but living to the fullest.

 MY ART:
My work is a combination of my creative endeavors that includes both sketches and doodles from my journal as well as observations of reality. My illustrations/paintings often come from those ideas. I enjoy studying from life through plein air painting or of models and still life. In addition, I often find myself drawn to the drawings and doodles that emerge in a random moment. Most of these creations show up in my illustrative work often representing a story.

Throughout the years, artists such a Alphonse Mucha, John Singer Sargent, N.C. Weyth, and Joaquin Sorolla have inspired me. Often, I have been drawn to strong graphic lines, colors and shapes that inspired me to obtain a Bachelor's Degree in Graphic Design. Over time, I started painting in oils more which led me to workshops with modern day masters such as Scott Christensen in Wyoming and Scott Burdick in North Carolina. Locally, I have been fortunate to attend classes with illustrator, Christian Slade; painter, Don Sondag, a student of Nelson Shanks; and Scott Waddell, who studied at the Florence Academy of Art and the Waterstreet Atelier under Jacob Collins. Most recently, in 2013, I attended a workshop with watercolor artist, Mary Whyte.

In my personal pursuits I began to take up the art of journaling as a portable method to draw wherever I could. As a result I have been fortunate to teach some illustrated nature journaling workshops. In addition, I have been involved in various art shows over the years and my work is displayed at various corporate locations.
