A brown Thrasher

I was trimming a hedge the other day and a brown thrasher gave me a verbal thrashing when I discovered she had set up a nest in that hedge.  This drawing is inspired by her and her sweet little brood.  Of course I've stopped trimming that hedge till she and her family are out and about. I wouldn't want to upset her anymore.  I did however love seeing those beautiful golden eyes up close when she gave me a what for. Just a sign spring is here I suppose.

An Oven Bird...not a Turkey!

I guess I'm in the bird mood. This is an Oven Bird, one of my favorites.

Often seen, when they are, under bushes digging through leaves and detritus. Walks like a dove, one foot in front of the other vs hopping. A very cute and sweet bird.  Strangely enough a physical trait that doesn't seem to be categorized one way or another in the ornithological field. At least it's strange to me at least since it seems like it would be an evolutionary beneficial energy saving trait. At least I can't find anything on the subject so far...

Study of a Tufted Titmouse

What is on the drawing table tonight? A cute lil' tufted titmouse.
One of my favorite birds...so I sketched this one up today.

When I still had a garden and had bird feeders,
I had two occasions where one of these guys came down
and landed on my head and picked at my hair.
Not sure why,but I felt blessed.

Figure Studies

As an artist, your draftsman skills need to stay fresh. The best solution is to find a class for figure studies. Here's a recent page from two twenty minute studies.

I'm going to post the better drawings on my Etsy web site for $20.00 and hope I can help support my art habit. So feel free to check out the Etsy site and I'll post them at the bottom of my gallery as well in up coming weeks.

Pick up a Pencil!

Sometime it is hard to get motivated...but when I can't do anything else...I pick up a pencil. So, here's a moose standing in a field on a cold winter day. We don't enjoy seeing them here in Florida, but I loved seeing them out west.

It's especially tough to get motivated when life gets in the way.
Last week I lost my little cat, Kiki after 18 years.
This very special, loving little cat will be missed..
